Kylie Minogue has shared that she received a second cancer diagnosis in early 2021, more than 15 years after her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2005.
In the new three-part Netflix documentary Kylie, Minogue says she chose to keep the diagnosis private at the time. She explains that the experience was different from her first public health battle and that she did not feel ready to discuss it while she was still processing what had happened.
The Australian pop singer also says she has since recovered and is well today. Her first diagnosis in 2005 led her to postpone tour dates and step away from major performances while she underwent treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy.
Minogue connects the private experience to her recent music, including her 2023 album Tension. She says the song Story helped her express feelings she had kept to herself during that period.
Her comments also underline the importance of regular health checks and early detection.
